The pool at Casa da Fonte is a saltwater pool, which many guests find more enjoyable than a traditional chlorine pool. Many guests find that the pool is especially enjoyable in the evening. As the air temperature cools down, the water can often feel even warmer and more relaxing, especially if you have chosen to have the pool heated.

With the pool light on and the night sky above, an evening swim can be a really peaceful and memorable part of your stay. It is a lovely way to unwind after a day out, enjoy the villa at a slower pace, and make the most of the pool in a different atmosphere.

The pool is heated using a premium Zodiac pool heater, from one of the leading specialist brands in the pool industry.
The heater target is set to 30°C, but because this is an outdoor pool in the Algarve, the final water temperature will depend on the weather conditions during your stay.

Pool heating is gradual. We recommend switching it on at least 2 days before arrival.
In cooler weather, it may take a few days for the pool to reach its best temperature, especially during autumn, winter, and early spring.

As a rough guide, during cooler winter and late autumn months, an unheated outdoor pool in the Algarve may be around 17°C to 18°C, depending on recent weather.
With pool heating, we would usually expect the water to reach the mid twenties. During late spring and summer, it would usually be expected to reach the high twenties, and in very favourable conditions it may reach around 30°C.
These temperatures are a guide only. As the pool is outdoors and weather-dependent, we cannot guarantee an exact water temperature, but the heating is designed to make the pool as comfortable and enjoyable as possible for swimming.

As with any technology, occasional issues can happen. If you notice anything unusual, for example, the water does not look as clear as expected, the water level seems low/high, or you hear any unusual noise from the pool equipment, please let us know so we can arrange for it to be checked.

Our pool technician visits at least once a week to clean and maintain the pool. He will always try not to disturb you, but he will beep at the gate to let you know he is entering the property. His visit is usually quick and he is normally at the villa for no longer than around 30 minutes.

From time to time, the garden maintenance team may also visit briefly for light garden care, mainly to blow or tidy leaves, check the plants, trim anything if needed, and make sure the watering system is working as it should. They will always try to be discreet and keep any disturbance to a minimum.

Pool toys and inflatables are welcome, but please remove them from the pool after use. If left in the water, they can block the skimmers and affect the pool’s circulation and filtration system, which helps keep the water clean and clear.
